SOMETIMES, IN OCTOBER...

A veces, en octubre, es lo que pasa
Sometimes,  in October, that's what happens

Cuando nada sucede,   (When nothing happens,)
y el verano se ha ido,   (and the summer is gone,)
y las hojas comienzan a caer de los árboles, (and the leaves begin to fall from the trees,)
y el frío oxida el borde de los ríos (and the cold oxidizes the edge of rivers)
y hace más lento el curso de las aguas; (and slows the flow of water;)

cuando el cielo parece un mar violento, (when the sky looks like a violent sea,)

y los pájaros cambian de paisaje, (and the birds change their landscape,)
y las palabras se oyen cada vez más lejanas, (and words are heard more and more distant,)
como susurros que dispersa el viento; (as whispers dispersed by the wind;)

entonces, (then,)

ya se sabe,  (you know,)
es lo que pasa, (that's what happens,)

esas hojas, los pájaros, las nubes, (those leaves, birds, clouds,)

las palabras dispersas y los ríos, (scattered words and rivers,)
nos llenan de inquietud súbitamente (suddenly filled us  with concern )
y de desesperanza. (and hopelessness.)

No busquéis el motivo en vuestros corazones. (Do not look for the reason in your hearts.) 

Tan sólo es lo que dije: (It's just what I said:)
lo que pasa. (what happens.)
