WAITING FOR THESE MOVIES

There are a few movies that I'm more than just excited to see at the cinema this year 2012, but I think I'll have to wait until december.  Well, we can take a look at the trailers while we wait, no?

First one, a new adaptation from The Great Gatsby, by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet) with Leo Dicaprio and Carey Mulligan. It definitely has style!

The next one is another classic, Anna Karenina. Directed by Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Hanna) with Keira Knightley and Jude Law.  The images are really stunning...

And finally, my favourite one, The Hobbit. Directed again by Peter Jackson (The Lord of Rings). To see Gandalf again, and Galadriel! Oh, the waiting...

SANT JOAN

Here in Catalonia, it's a tradition to celebrate the night of June 23rd, Sant Joan's Eve. Since ancient times, just at the arrival of the summer solstice, the longest day and the shortest night of the year, on the evening of June 21st, people have welcomed in the warmer weather with celebrations of fire, the ritual flames consuming all as a sign of rebirth and renewed life.

It's our magic night. People build and burn bonfires, light firecrackers and fireworks,  and eat suit "coca" with fruits and cream.

We are going to spend the night with some friends in their country house. There'll be a bonfire, "coca" and maybe some magic rituals, so fun!

Have a magic weekend!

But of course everybody who likes crafts can go there. They do crochet or printing workshops... and have products to sell like Japanese books, children's fabrics, materials for making crochet... and lots of other things.

Go there, it's worth it!

BOOKS: The Distant Hours by Kate Morton

A few weeks ago I finished the book "The Distant Hours" by Kate Morton.

"A long lost letter arrives in the post and Edie Burchill finds herself on a journey to Milderhurst Castle, a great but moldering old house, where the Blythe spinsters live and where her mother was billeted 50 years before as a 13 year old child during WWII. The elder Blythe sisters are twins and have spent most of their lives looking after the third and youngest sister, Juniper, who hasn’t been the same since her fiance jilted her in 1941.

Inside the decaying castle, Edie begins to unravel her mother’s past. But there are other secrets hidden in the stones of Milderhurst, and Edie is about to learn more than she expected. The truth of what happened in ‘the distant hours’ of the past has been waiting a long time for someone to find it..."

Before reading the book I saw some reviews about it. Some people said that her writing was reminiscent of the Brontë sisters and Jane Austen. Well, I would'n go that far.  To me it's more like Diane Setterfields "The Thirteenth Tale".  In fact, both books are very similar... Read it if you love old time stories, with secrets, abandoned castles and dark and decadent sceneries. A perfect evening book, to read just before falling sleep.

XOXO

NORWAY

Albert and I will soon visit Norway. We stayed there 8 years ago and we were very happy those days, so we have a special feeling, we are nervous and excited as we were 8 years ago.

We will cross the country from north to south, by car and airplanes. These days we are preparing the routes, accommodation, visits... to have the most important things reserved from here, although we want to improvise some things there.

If you do not know how large is this country, I let you here a map to see its size compared to the whole Europe.

I made a map with the places we will visit, and after the trip I will explain in detail what we've done. I think this kind of information is very useful if someone wants to do something similar, at least it was for me to find “esperits viatgers” (a travel website in our language).

See you soon,

Marina

I started looking desk chairs and dining room chairs. For the desktop we want a comfortable chair, of course with wheels.

And the dining table chairs had to be comfortable and each one different.

LUNCH AND DESSERT

I propose you a plan for lunch and eat dessert at different places. You can have lunch at ROURE RESTAURANT and then eat some ice cream in TOMO II, both in Barcelona.
ROURE is one of those restaurants where you can still eat good and cheap food, with an esthetic that reminds you an old family bar. They make daily menu and tapas too, all homemade and so tasty. Both sites are in the Gràcia neighborhood, in the non tourist area.

After lunch, you can take a delicious ice cream in TOMO II and eat it walking or sitting in any square of the neighborhood. In TOMO II you can find natural ice cream, with no preservatives, no colorings and no artificial flavorings. Even for people who are intolerant to lactose, gluten or for diabetics.

The ice cream shop is located just outside the restaurant; in fact the picture is taken from the table where we had lunch.

Hope you like it!

See you.
